Lilies are TOXIC to cats

If cats ingest any part of a lily, they can die from renal failure within 3-6 days. This can happen from just brushing up against the plant and licking pollen off their coats. It is critical to keep these flowers away from our beautiful kitties!

I intend to list as many internet resources here as possible, so that you can be aware of other plants that are also toxic to cats (or dogs, or horses, or rabbits, or any animal). Some sources have conflicting information on which type of lilies are toxic; my feeling on this is that it is better safe than sorry.
